About ettitude

What's the difference between ettitude bamboo bed sheets and other brands?

Our bamboo sheets are made of the world’s first CleanBamboo™, one of the most soft and sustainable materials of the 21st century. Other bamboo beddings are made from either bamboo/cotton or bamboo rayon/viscose blend fabrics, which require the use of harmful chemicals. Our patented CleanBamboo™ is made sustainably from 100% organic bamboo lyocell.

What's the difference between your Sateen, Sateen+ and Twill products?

Sateen is our signature fabric and the foundation for everything we make.

Our Sateen+ products are made from our CleanBamboo Charcoal fabric, which blends all the same benefits of CleanBamboo with charcoal powder to safeguard your sheets for long-lasting freshness.

Are your products free from toxins and harmful chemicals?

Our products are made from certified organic bamboo that is grown and produced without harmful chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides.

Our bedding, sleepwear and bath lines have been certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. This certifies that our products—from fabric to thread to buttons—are free from harmful chemicals or toxins, making them safe for you to use.

Are your products suitable for people with long-term sickness, skin problems, and infants?

Our CleanBamboo™ fabric is breathable and free from harmful chemicals. Our products are suitable for every skin type, including sensitive acne-prone skin, eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Infused with naturally antimicrobial bamboo charcoal, our CleanBamboo™ charcoal products are also proven to reduce bacteria by 99.9% compared to cotton.

Which kinds of dye do you use?

We use non-toxic, eco-friendly AVITERA® SE reactive dyes which are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. These dyes reduce water and energy consumption by up to 50%, salt consumption by 20% and overall cycle time by 25%. Furthermore, the dyes comply with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Group’s manufacturing restricted substances list.

Why are there variations in the color of your products?

Our fabrics are made in small dye lots, meaning that unique batches sometimes have a slight color tone variation. It is very difficult to ensure that batches are 100% the same in color without harsh chemicals, so we’ve prioritized our commitment to sustainability over guaranteeing an exact color match.

Are your products ethically sourced?

Our bamboo is responsibly grown in FSC-certified forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

Is it possible for bamboo sheets to shrink?

Our CleanBamboo™ sheets are pre-washed and pre-shrunk. We have also included a small margin on the bedding size for unforeseen shrinkage. That said, we do not recommend drying your CleanBamboo™ sheets using high heat.

What are the thread counts of ettitude sheets?

Our CleanBamboo™ bamboo lyocell sheets have a thread count of 300, which is equivalent to 1,000 thread count in cotton. While we’re proud of that, we also know that based on recent innovations, thread count is no longer the most important factor when deciding on sheets. Rather, the quality of the raw fiber and the weave of the sheets are the most important factors.

How do I maintain my bamboo bedding?

Our CleanBamboo™ products come with care labels that detail washing instructions. We recommend cold machine wash with like fabrics on gentle or delicate setting, line dry or tumble dry low. Avoid using bleach or softener, since CleanBamboo™ maintains softness on its own.

What is the TOG rating of your duvets and quilts?

Our summer duvet is about 7.5 TOG, and our winter duvet is about 13.5 TOG. TOG stands for 'Thermal Overall Grade', which is a unit of measurement used to calculate the thermal insulation of a product—the higher the number, the warmer the duvet or quilt.

The most resource efficient plant on earth: Bamboo

  1. Uses less water: Cotton diverts and contaminates fresh water and is considered the largest user of water among all agricultural commodities.

  2. Organic: Cotton is responsible for 24% of the world’s insecticides and 11% of pesticides — more than any other crop.

  3. Produces little waste: 70% of the bamboo we harvest is used to create fiber. The remaining 30% is composted.

  4. Requires less land: As a grass, bamboo grows up again and again. Cotton covers more land and requires replanting year after year.

A thoughtful supply chain starts at the source

Most things made in China are not indigenous to China, but bamboo is. Sourcing our raw materials near our manufacturing factories helps reduce travel miles and CO2 emissions from field to factory.

Since 2020, we’ve committed to work only with factories certified by globally recognized ethical third party auditors including BSCI, WRAP and SEDEX.

All ettitude partners must uphold our ethical and legal standards to protect people and the planet.

We don't just believe in reducing our impact, but also doing good

People: As a business, we contributed $5,000 to the National Movement for Black Lives and donated $22,500 to grassroots youth program Harlem Grown.

Climate Neutral: We have committed to become Climate Neutral Certified for our 2020 emissions. In 2021 we will measure, offset and reduce all of the carbon it takes to make and deliver every ettitude product.

Calculation Breakdown:

Each product has individual impact-based metrics that correspond to each of the five following categories.

  • Environmental Impact
  • Labor rights
  • Animal rights
  • Community impact
  • Product Composition

A product can score 20 possible points in each category for a total of 100 points. Point distribution is based on how many metrics/certifications are met for each category. For each metric:

  • If a product meets the requirement, it will positively impact its total score.
  • If a product does not meet the requirement, it will negatively impact its total score.
  • If a metric is unrelated to the product, it is factored out of the calculation and has a neutral impact on its total score.
Where You Come In:

If you have set your My FIG Values in your account settings, our base FIG Value score will be joined with your FIG Values preferences to calculate a personalized weighted score. If you care more about one impact category over another, those associated criteria will play a larger part in determining the final My FIG Values score.

Our goal is to create a scoring system that helps you better see how different products match up to the values you care about! Be sure to set up your FIG Values preferences here.
